B296 - Harley Brown's Inspiration For Every Artist by  Brown, Harley
Book Various

ISBN: 1929834616

Summary:

ACCESS THE CREATIVE MIND AND PICTORIAL THOUGHT PROCESS OF A MASTER PAINTER

In his trademark no-nonsense style, Harley offers 400 separate thoughts, observations and gems of teaching insight gleaned from his lifetime as an artist. Whether you use it as a daily artistic inspirational, or devour it in great big chunks, Harley's long-awaited new book is full of the kind of wit and wisdom you need to fuel and nourish your creativity.

I have designed the book specially for working and studying artists. This means you can see the pictorial thought processes that went into creating all the paintings. I have left many in a semi-finished state so you can see the build-up of each image and the strokes I used.

About the Author

A totally dedicated devotee of pastel (and occasional oil) portraiture, Harley Brown, a native of Canada, attended the Alberta College of Art and the Camberwell School of Art in London, before embarking on a long and arduous struggle to establish himself as a professional.

Today, recognized as one of the most accomplished artists in his field, Harley, together with his wife, Carol, lives and paints in Tucson, Arizona, where he is known as one of "the Tucson Seven", a somewhat disorganized group of top western artists. He has been a member of the National Academy of Western Art since 1977, and has received from the organization five gold medals, one silver medal, and the prestigious Robert Lougheed award (given by vote of Academy members).

Eager to share his knowledge, Harley Brown has conducted hundreds of invariably sold﷓out workshops and demonstrations in the US and abroad. The essence of what he has learned from, and about, his thousands of students and the way they learn is contained in these pages.
